Clinic Nepal supports kindergartens at three locations

In 2001, Clinic Nepal began building kindergartens. First in the sub-town of Sukranagar, Chitwan, then in Daldale and in Meghauli. In Daldale and Meghauli, around 150 children aged 2–6 in total are looked after according to the Montessori method, receive a warm meal every day and can play and learn in a child-friendly environment. The kindergartens are Prabhat Bal Shikchhya Sadan Kindergarten in Sukranagar (Chitwan), Aasha ko Kiran Kindergarten in Daldale (Nawalparasi) and Wolfgang Linke Kindergarten in Meghauli (Aashaban Farm, Dharampur). Responsibility for the first kindergarten in Sukranagar has lain with the neighbouring Prabhat School since 2019.

In Daldale the school fee was raised and a school bus was introduced, for which a transport fee is charged. This allows part of the salaries and running costs to be covered.

Montessori in Nepal

Hari Bhandary got to know various kindergartens abroad and was especially taken with Montessori education.

Holistic Montessori education encourages children's natural curiosity and strengthens their independence. In an environment in which many children would otherwise have hardly any educational opportunities, this approach creates a decisive foundation for their further school career.

The children learn daily living skills as well as health and hygiene, in Nepali and English. Every child gets a warm meal each day. Once a month there is a meeting with the parents.
