Free eye camp: 19 cataract operations completed

Following a free eye camp, 19 patients had successful cataract surgery – all services were provided free of charge.

Together with the Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh, Bharatpur Eye Hospital (Chitwan) and Bharatpur Metropolitan City Ward No. 27, Clinic Nepal organised a free eye camp for the community. Local participation was high.

Cataracts were identified in 24 patients. 22 of them were referred to Bharatpur Eye Hospital for surgery. 19 patients have since been operated on successfully – the surgery and all services at the hospital were provided completely free of charge.

The remaining three patients are under medical observation: one because of a heart condition, two because of elevated blood sugar. As soon as they are medically fit, their operations are planned for the following week.
