A support association for Nepal
Clinic Nepal is a non-governmental development aid project in the south of Nepal. Founder and driving force is Hari Bhandary, who comes from Nepal himself and is confronted with the hardships of the population. The donation association “Förderkreis Friendship Clinic Nepal e.V.” supports the work of “Clinic Nepal” both with donations and by arranging volunteer assignments. It was founded by the physician couple Dr. Andrea Harder and Prof. Dr. Jan Harder together with Prof. Dr. Matthias Briel, who were inspired by Hari’s commitment on a trip to Nepal after their studies. As a support association, we are in regular contact with Hari. Members see for themselves the steady development of the projects on site through trips to Nepal.
Milestones
Founding of Clinic Nepal
Hari Bhandary founds Friendship Clinic Nepal in Meghauli, Chitwan. A simple health station grows into a comprehensive aid project for the rural population of Nepal.
Founding of Förderkreis Friendship Clinic Nepal e.V.
In 1999, shortly after completing their medical studies, Dr. Andrea Harder and Prof. Dr. Jan Harder got to know the small clinic in the remote, poor village in the south of Nepal on a trip to Nepal. Impressed by Hari's commitment, they founded the donation association “Förderkreis Friendship Clinic Nepal e.V.” in Freiburg in 2002. Since then, the Förderkreis has supported the work of “Clinic Nepal” both with donations and by arranging volunteer assignments. It is in regular contact with Hari. Members see for themselves the steady development of the projects on site through trips.
Starting from the day clinic, Clinic Nepal has developed into a versatile project in all directions. The work is supported by a network of friends and support associations from Great Britain, Spain, the USA and Germany.
This commitment is recognised time and again. The Förderkreis has successfully raised funding from renowned institutions – including Freiburg University Hospital and the Foundation for Development Cooperation Baden-Württemberg (SEZ).
