Volunteers on site
Clinic Nepal is a non-governmental organisation in Meghauli, Chitwan, which has been providing primary medical care for the local population since 1997. The main part of this medical care is provided by the day clinic. As a support association, we mainly arrange volunteer assignments here for medical staff and medical students. There is also the opportunity to do non-medical volunteer work, e.g. in one of the kindergartens.

Volunteering at the clinic
The clinic is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm. There are normally no appointment-based consultations. The busiest days are Friday, when free blood sugar tests are offered for diabetics, and Saturday, when the eye doctor and dentist are on site.
A team consisting of a health assistant, a nurse and a laboratory technician works continuously in the day clinic, supplemented by visits from doctors of various specialities who work in the nearby hospital in Bharatpur. The most common reasons for consultation are upper respiratory tract infections and minor accidents with corresponding wound care. During the monsoon season there is a high number of fungal infections.
The clinic staff are supported by occasional visits from foreign doctors, nurses, midwives and physiotherapists. There is also the possibility of internships or clinical clerkships for medical students.
In general, the work consists of the medical care of patients. In addition, the medicine supply has to be managed and sorted. There is also the planning of the health camps (putting together the medicines, etc.).
Health Camps
In addition to the daily care in the day clinic, health camps lasting one or several days are held regularly in the remote, rural, underserved areas of the Chitwan region. Volunteers can also help here, but should be aware that the sleeping and living conditions during these assignments are very rudimentary and simple.

Non-medical volunteering
In addition to the day clinic, Clinic Nepal also runs kindergartens and a children's home, where there are also opportunities for volunteer assignments. When working with the children, you can, for example, teach a foreign language, help with homework or make music together. Help is also needed with repair work: painting walls, building furniture and much more.
